Adding Print Stamps on Printed Drawings
A print stamp is a text that you can add on the printed drawing to help you identify printed copies. Print stamps may include information such as date and time, drafters name, drawing file name, sheet name, or scale, so that later, you can find the original drawing on your computer. Additionally, you can define your own information that you would need to see on the printed drawing.
Print stamps are useful for big projects, with many drawings and several people involved. Print stamps let you identify printed drawings created by a particular drafter or drawings that were modified on a specified date.
You can write the print stamp information to a log file or to the printed output.
Optionally, you can store print stamp information in a PSS file (Plot Stamp Settings) for later use. Also, PSS files allow multiple users to load the same file and add it on their own printed drawings.
The workflow for adding a print stamp when printing a drawing includes the following steps:
- Configure the print stamp
Use the PrintStamp command to configure a print stamp for your drawing. The command displays the Print Stamp dialog box which groups all options for configuring print stamps. Alternatively, you can access the Print Stamp dialog box before printing, from the Print dialog box.
- Enable the print stamp
Use the Print stamp on option from the Print dialog box to enable print stamp.
Note: You can only see the print stamp onto the printed drawing.
To create a custom print stamp:
- Do one of the following:
- In the Print dialog box, click Print Stamp Settings
next to Print stamp on. - Type PrintStamp.
- In the Print dialog box, click Print Stamp Settings
- In the dialog box, on the General tab, specify the information to include in the print stamp:
- Print stamp fields:
- Drawing name
- Printer name
- Sheet name
- Paper size
- Date and time
- Print scale
- Login name
- User defined fields. Let you include additional information in the print stamp.
- In the User defined fields section, click Add / Edit.
- In the Add User Defined Fields dialog box, use the available buttons to add, edit, or delete information.
- Click OK to save your changes or click Cancel to close the dialog box without saving the changes.
- Print stamp parameter file. Lets you save the print stamp to a .pss file.
- Print stamp fields:
- On the Advanced Options tab, specify the formatting and the log file location for the print stamp.
- Click OK to save the print stamp or click Cancel to close the dialog box without saving the changes.
To save a print stamp to a .pss file:
- On the General tab, under Print stamp parameter file, click Save as.
- In the Save file name dialog box, navigate to the folder where you want to store the .pss file.
- Type a name for the file.
- Click Save.
To add a print stamp from a .pss file:
- On the General tab, under Print stamp parameter file, click Load.
- In the Select file dialog box, navigate to the folder containing the .pss file.
- Select the .pss file.
- Click Open.
Advanced Options Tab
Location and offset
Groups the options for specifying the print stamp location on the printable area.
Location
Lets you specify the corner of the paper where you want to place the print stamp. The position is relative to the orientation of the paper.
Orientation
Lets you display the print stamp either vertically or horizontally.
Stamp upside-down
When enabled, lets you display the stamp upside-down.
X offset
Lets you specify an offset value in the X direction. The position can be relative to either the printable area, or to the paper border.
Y offset
Lets you specify an offset value in the Y direction. The position can be relative to either the printable area, or to the paper border.
Offset relative to printable area
When enabled, calculates the specified offset relative to the printable area.
Offset relative to paper border
When enabled, calculates the specified offset relative to the paper border.
Text properties
Groups the options for managing text formatting.
Font
Lets you specify the font to use for the text included in the print stamp.
Height
Lets you specify the height for the text included in the print stamp.
Single line print stamp
Lets you display the text included in the print stamp in a single line.
Print stamp units
Lets you specify the unit of measurement used for the X offset, the Y offset, and the text height in the print stamp. You can select millimeters, inches, or pixels.
Log file location
When enabled, lets you save the print stamp to a log file. Specify the file name or click Browse and select the file to overwrite.

Command: PrintStamp
