Creating Drawing Standards Files

Drawing standards are saved in drawing standards files of type *.dws. They are similar to regular drawing files, but designated to store the standards.

Use the VerifyStandards command to check the current drawing against drawing standards files.

To create drawing standards files:

  1. Create a drawing that has the standard names and properties for Layers, LineStyles, DimensionStyles, and TextStyles you want to apply for drawing standards checks.

  2. Click File > Save As (or type SaveAs).

  3. In the file dialog box, select Drawing Standards (*.dws) as file type.

  4. Specify a folder and file name.

  5. Click Save.

tip You can use an existing drawing for a standards file, but make sure to purge all Layers, LineStyles, DimensionStyles, and TextStyles that you do not want to include.
