Using Comments and Markups¶
You can leave feedback about the drawing for other team members using comments and markups.
Comments are discussions on the drawings or on a specified entity. You can add comments in any drawing.
Markups are non-text annotations, such as:
Stamps. Let you add predefined and custom stamps to the drawing according to the review cycle.
Voice Recordings. Let you record audio notes and use them within the drawing.
Picture Recordings. Let you annotate entities or locations in the drawing by pictures. You can name them and add descriptive text. Additionally, you can download pictures that other colleagues have used as markups.
Note: You can add markups only in the drawings saved in the Cloud Storage.
All comments and markups are accessible from the Comments palette. You can add, edit, and delete comments and markups which will be accessible to your colleagues when they open the file. They can reply to your comments, start another discussion, and add their own markups.
User Mentions
Mentions let you draw someones attention to a comment or a markup. You can mention users within comments and picture recordings: type @ in the Description field and select the user to mention from the list of suggestions. Users that you mentioned will receive a notification by email everytime you mention them.
Suggestions include people you have mentioned before, other users from the company network or your team mates. If the user you mention does not exist, mention appears as plain text.
To display the Comments palette:
Note: Make sure you opened a drawing from the Cloud Storage.
Do one of the following:
On the menu, click Collaborate > Comments.
On the ribbon, click Collaborate > Palette > Comment.
Type Comments.
To hide the Comments palette:
Type HideComments at the command prompt.
The Comments Palette
The Comments palette groups the tools necessary for adding comments and markups to your drawings.
The palette contains the following sections:
The toolbar area groups the tools for creating comments and markups.
Filter area groups the tools for searching and filtering comment threads.
Comments threads area displays all drawing comments, as well as entity comments, from all users.
Drawing comments
Entity comments
To collapse or expand a comment thread or a markup:
Click

on the Comments palette.
You can use these toolbar buttons at the top of the palette:

Adding Comments and Markups
Note: You can add markups only in the drawings saved in the Cloud Storage.
To start a new comment thread:
On the Comments palette, click Create a new comment thread
.Type your comment in the Description field.
To mention a user, type @ then select the user from the list of suggestions. Use arrow keys or the mouse to select a user.Optionally, specify a title.
Optionally, link the comment to an entity:
Click Add entities
.In the graphics area, specify the entities to which you want to attach a comment.
Press Enter.
Note: You can remove entities at any time by clicking Remove entities
.
Click Save
.The comment is created. When another team member will open the drawing, he will see the comment in the list.
To add a custom stamp:
Note: You can add stamps only in the drawings saved in the Cloud Storage.
Do one of the following:
On the menu, click Collaborate > Stamp.
On the ribbon, click Collaborate > Comments and Markups > Stamp.
Type the text and press Enter.
The stamp appears attached to the mouse pointer.
In the graphics area, specify a point.
The stamp appears on the drawing.
You can also add custom stamps from the Comments palette.
To add predefined stamps:
Note: You can add stamps only in the drawings saved in the Cloud Storage.
On the Comments palette, click Create a new markup
.The palette switches to stamps mode. You can return to the comments and markups list at any time by clicking Back to comments and markups.
On the Stamps area, specify a predefined stamp.
To add a custom stamp, In the Title field, type the text and click Place stamp.In the graphics area, specify a point.
The stamp appears on the drawing.
To add a voice recording:
Note: You can add voice recordings only in the drawings saved in the Cloud Storage.
Do one of the following:
On the Comments palette, click Create a new markup
and click Voice Recording.On the menu, click Collaborate > Voice Recording.
On the ribbon, click Collaborate > Comments and Markups > Voice Recording.
The voice recording stamp appears attached to the mouse pointer.
In the graphics area, specify a point.
The Comments palette lets you to record your voice.
Use the recorder buttons to create an audio voice recording.
In the Comments palette are four audio controls: record, play, pause and stop. Selecting the record control will record audio until the stop control is pressed. Each new recording completely removes the previous recording. You may playback a recording by selecting the play control. When recording or playing back audio, the pause and stop controls can be used as needed.
Once a voice recording is entered, click Post.
The voice recording is created.
To add a picture recording:

Do one of the following:
On the Comments palette, click Create a new markup
and click Picture Recording.On the menu, click Collaborate > Picture Recording.
On the ribbon, click Collaborate > Comments and Markups > Picture Recording.
The picture recording stamp appears attached to the mouse pointer.
In the graphics area, specify a point.
In the dialog box, select an image and click Open.
The picture recording appears on the Comments palette.
Optionally, you can add comments along with the picture recording. To mention a user, type @ then select the user to mention from the list of suggestions. Use arrow keys or the mouse to select a user.
Optionally, click Add images to add more images to the picture recording.
Use the Next and Previous buttons to browse between images.Click Post.
The picture recording is created. When another team member will open the drawing, he will see the picture recording in the list.
Searching for Comments and Markups
In drawings with many comments you can search for a specific comment if you know a portion of the description. Type substrings and use wildcards to reduce the number of displayed comments.
Additionally, you can sort the comments and markups according to the available options:

Managing Comments and Markups
The Comments palette displays all comments and markups in a drawing. Additionally, it provides all tools for working with comments and markups.
You can do the following:
Edit comments
You can add or remove entities and change the titel or the description of a comment.
Reply to comments
Other users can reply to your comments. In the Comments palette, replies are displayed under the original comment.
Set the status for comments and markups
You specify whether you have resolved a comment or reopen it.
Delete comments and markups
At any time, you can delete your comments and markups in a shared drawing.
To edit a comment thread:
On the Comments palette, click More options
for the comment to edit.Select Edit
from the menu.The comment switches to the editing mode.
Do the necessary changes, such as:
Add or remove entities.
Edit the title and the description.
Click Save.
To reply to a comment:
On the Comments palette, expand the comment thread.
Type your text in the Reply field.
Click Save
.
To resolve a comment or a markup:
On the Comments palette, click Resolve
for the comment thread or markup to resolve.
To reopen a resolved comment:
On the Comments palette, click Filter & Sort
and select Show resolved comments.Click Reopen
for the comment thread to review.
To reopen a resolved markup:
On the Comments palette, click Filter & Sort
and select Show resolved markups.Click Reopen
for the markup to review.
To display the entities to wich the comment is attached:
On the Comments palette, click Zoom
for the comment thread to review.
To delete a comment thread or a markup:
Note: You cannot delete other colleagues comments and markups.
On the Comments palette, click More options
for the comment or markup to delete.Select Delete
from the menu.
To download a picture from a picture recording:
On the Comments palette, expand the picture recording.
Click Save image
.In the dialog box, navigate to the folder where you want to store the drawing file.
In File name, type a name for the file.
Click Save.
