Displaying a Grid¶
Use the Grid command to display a reference grid in the graphics area to visualize distances, angles, and entity relationships. The grid is not printed or plotted.
The grid displays either as grid lines or as a pattern of dots. Major grid lines appear after a set number of grid divisions so that you can estimate distances at a glance. Use the Major option to specify how many grid divisions lie between two major grid lines.
To set up the grid display:
Type Grid at the command prompt.
Type a spacing value or specify options:
Adaptive: Limits the density of the grid when you zoom out. Specify the Yes option to turn adaptive behavior on, then specify whether to allow additional grid divisions when you zoom in beyond the current grid spacing.
Drawing Bounds: Displays the grid beyond the area determined by the drawing bounds. Specify the Yes option to display the grid beyond the drawing bounds.
Follow: Aligns the grid with the XY plane of the Dynamic Custom Coordinate System. Specify the Yes option to make the grid follow the dynamic coordinate system.
Major: Sets the number of grid divisions between two major grid lines. Type a value from 1 to 100. Major grid lines are visible only where the grid displays as lines.
Snap: Sets the grid interval to the current snap interval.
Off: Turns the grid off.
On: Turns the grid on using the current grid spacing.
Spacing: Lets you set the horizontal and vertical spacing.
Note: To display the grid as dots instead of lines, use the Show dotted grid in options on the Display > Grid Settings page of the DraftingOptions command. You can set the grid style separately for 2D Model space, the Block editor, and Sheet/Paper space.
