What’s New in This Release¶
Release 2027 provides the following new commands and features:
Note: Release 2027 can read and write DWG files up to the latest version of this format (R2018). The same applies to DXF (Drawing eXchange Format) files, which store unencrypted drawing database contents.
Some of the new commands and features were introduced in service packs since the previous release and before the current major release.
System Requirements:
Windows 11
Note: Desktop products ceased supporting 32-bit platforms starting with the 2023 release, and now only support 64-bit platforms.
User Interface:
Options to customize the status bar
A new icon (
) in the right side of the status bar displays a menu. Checking and unchecking options in the menu shows or hides buttons in the status bar.Additionally, you can choose how to display buttons in the status bar:
Show icons. Shows status bar icons instead of plain text.
Show labels. Shows status bar with plain text only.
Show icons & labels. Shows status bar icons and text.
New Commands:
Editing Commands
ExTrim. Trims one side of an entity intersecting with a cutting edge.
Annotation Commands
AreaNote. Highlights and annotates areas within the drawing.
Calculates the area and perimeter
Highlights areas with a color of your choice
Adds a label showing the measured area and a custom description
View Commands
MVSetup. Lets you specify settings for plotting a drawing. You can define drawing units, set scales, insert title blocks, and create viewports.
In Model space, you can set units and a scale.
In Sheet space, you can specify options such as sheet size selection, viewport creation, viewport scaling, and view alignment for a complete layout setup.
Layer Commands
LayerTranslator. Lets you map layers from one drawing to another. The command translates layer names and their properties, such as color, line type, line weight, and plot settings, so that your drawing matches the desired layer standard.
Map Commands
RubberSheet. Performs rubber sheeting on the specified data set. Rubber sheeting is a coordinate transformation process based on known control points.
AI-Powered Features:
AI Assist (A3) enhancements. AI Assist (A3) can also:
Delete entities based on specific criteria.
Create new entities, such as lines, circles, and rectangles, using natural-language instructions.
Process a selection and an action combined into a single phrase.
Command Recommender. The Command Recommender window displays in real time a list of command suggestions according to the tracked tasks. At any moment, you can select a command from the Command Recommender and use it in your project.
Recommender. Displays the Command Recommender window.
HideRecommender. Hides the Command Recommender window.
BlockLibrary command AI enhancements. You can generate Blocks directly from the Trinity Block Library. Describe what you need — for example a power outlet, or a table — and the system will generate the symbol for you.
New Features:
Associative Path Patterns
Pattern command lets you create associative path patterns. Entities within associative path patterns retain their relationships. The Pattern Editor ribbon tab groups options for modifying associative path patterns.
Building Information Modeling
Online Drawing Automation
The following commands are available from the online services.
BIMAutoAll
BIMReload
BIMDataExtraction
You can schedule automation jobs and set up recurring jobs. Automation jobs for CAD include:
Drawing Compare
DWG Data Extraction
Export DWG to DWF, DWFX, JPG, PNG, SLD, SVG, TIF
Convert DWG to PDF
Convert PDF to DWG
Convert DWG to DGN
Convert DGN to DWG
External Drawings within BIM Models
You can use external drawings in your BIM projects to maintain consistency across BIM drawings generated from the BIM model.
The following commands are available for managing external drawings referenced within the BIM model:
BIMAttach. Lets you attach an external drawing to the main BIM drawing. The drawings attached to the main BIM model are listed in the BIM Navigator, under xReferences.
BIMDetach. Lets you detach referenced drawings that were attached to a drawing containing a BIM model with the BIMAttach command.
BIMReference. Lets you insert a reference callout in the active BIM drawing. A reference callout displays the file name and the title of the drawing file to which it is associated.
BIMRemoveReference. Lets you remove a reference callout from the main BIM drawing by specifying the relative path to the referenced drawing.
Modified Features and Commands:
New grid settings in the Options dialog box, in Drafting Options:
Adaptive grid: Activates adaptive grid display. The grid density is adjusted automatically to the magnification when you zoom out your drawing.
Allow subdivision below grid spacing: For an adaptive grid, when zoomed in, generates more closely spaced grid lines in the same proportion as the intervals of the major grid lines.
Show grid beyond drawing bounds: When enabled, displays the grid beyond the area determined as the drawing limits.
Field command enhancements:
DIESEL expressions. You can write and evaluate expressions directly within the Field dialog box.
String operations
Logical operations
Arithmetic calculations
System variable retrieval
Display the coordinates of points directly in the drawing. The Entity option lets you insert point coordinates in fields.
Possibility to reference previously defined field values in other fields.
SpellCheck command enhancements. The command checks the spelling of text entities independently from Microsoft Word.
PropertyPainter command enhancements. The command lets you copy properties from entities between drawings.
The list of properties that you can transfer from one entity to another includes new options, such as:
Dimension styles
Text styles
Plot styles
Materials
Transparency
Hatch properties
Building Information Modeling
BIMImport command enhancements. The BIMImport command supports grid lines from IFC models. When importing IFC models, grid lines are automatically taken into account.
BIMAutoAll command enhancements. The command recognizes BIM models from different disciplines. Moreover, you can specify disciplines to take into account.
BIMSettings command enhancements. The BIM Settings page of the Options dialog box lets you specify drawing categories for which to generate BIM labels: plans, sections, or elevations.
BIM Dimensioning enhancements. A new option in the BIM Styles Manager provides the possibility to take into account curtain walls during automatic dimensioning.
New System Variables:
GRIDSTYLE. Determines style of grid is displayed in 2D model space, Block Editor, 3D parallel projection.
