Attaching Part References to Blocks

Use the AM_PartReferenceBlock command to create a Part Reference in the graphics area and attaches it to a Block.

If the block has a BlockAttribute that has the same name as a component property, the Part Reference automatically imports the corresponding values.

To create and place Part References:

  1. Do one of the following:

    • On the ribbon, click Mechanical Annotate > BOM > PR Block.

    • On the menu, click Mechanical Annotate > BOM > Block Part Reference.

    • Type AM_PartReferenceBlock.

    • Type AM_PartReference, then specify the Block option at the command prompt.

  2. In the graphics area, specify a Block.

  3. In the Part Reference dialog box, specify the component properties for the Part Reference.

See Part Reference / Edit Part Reference dialog box.

  4. Click OK.

The Part Reference symbol appears attached to the specified block.

If you select a Block that already contains a Part Reference, or an entity that is not a Block, the prompt repeats.
