Creating Baseline Dimensions

The AM_PowerDimensionBas command creates a linear or angular dimension from the first extension line of a specified dimension.

For each point you specify, the dimension is automatically offset from the previous one with a correct distance.

Alternatively, you can create baseline dimensions using the AM_PowerDimension with the Baseline option.

If you select a power dimension in the graphics area and the ribbon is active, the corresponding contextual ribbon tab appears. The contextual ribbon tab groups options and tools for controlling the DimensionStyle, arrows, dimension lines.

To create a baseline dimension:

1. Ensure that the entity you want to dimension already has a linear, angular, or ordinate Dimension to serve as the base Dimension, or insert a Dimension if necessary.

2. Click Mechanical Annotate > Mechanical Dimension > Baseline (or type AM_PowerDimensionBas).

3. In the graphics area, specify the base dimension.

4. Specify the next extension line point.

   Specify an option:

   • Select. Lets you specify the base dimension again.

   • Chain. Switches to the chain dimension.

   • Undo. Withdraws the last dimension.

5. Press Enter.
