Calculating the Moment of Inertia for a Rectangular Cross Section

Use the AM_Inertia_Rectangular command to calculate the moment of inertia for the cross section of a rectangular prism.

To calculate a moment of inertia of a rectangular cross section:

  1. Draw the closed boundary of the cross section.

  2. Type AM_Inertia_Rectangular.

  3. Define the rectangular cross section for which you want to calculate the moment of inertia.

    1. Specify the length of the cross section in X direction. You can specify the length value or define two points in the graphics area.

    2. Specify the length of the cross section in Y direction. You can sepcify the length value or define two points in the graphics area.

    The table appears attached to the mouse cursor.

  4. In the graphics area, click a point to place the table.
